10. Mission Impossible: Fallout
Directed by Christopher McQuarrie
It's been awhile since I've really loved an action movie. I'd like to personally thank God for allowing Rebecca Ferguson to reprise her role as Ilsa Faust.
9. Crazy Rich Asians
Directed by Jon M. Chu
The cutesy, quirky, satisfyingly original romcom masterpiece I've been waiting for. It only took about a decade.

8. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse
Directed by Bob Persichetti, Peter Ramsey, & Rodney Rothman
In a world of never ending sequels and tired reboots, this film is a breath of fresh air. So completely original, and hopefully the inspiration for future movies of its kind.

7. Lean On Pete
Directed by Andrew Haigh
I saw this last spring in Florida and it just really stuck with me. One of the most underrated, real, and moving films of the year. Watch out for Charlie Plummer.

6. Eighth Grade
Directed by Bo Burnham
The most brutally honest depiction of junior high and what it's like to find your way at thirteen. Deserves way more Oscar recognition than it got.

5. BlacKkKlansman
Directed by Spike Lee
If I ever see Spike Lee in person, I will actually bow to him. Also, John David Washington and Adam Driver... call me.

4. A Star Is Born
Directed by Bradley Cooper
There can be 100 people in a room, and 99 say that A Star Is Born is overrated, but all it takes is for one person to tell you that they're wrong, and it changes your whole life.

3. Roma
Directed by Alfonso Cuarón
This film is so deeply personal and moving; an unabashed depiction of life and love on screen. It's one that everyone should watch.

2. Annihilation
Directed by Alex Garland
Dear Natalie Portman, I'm so sorry that nobody in the academy has TASTE. This film... THIS FILM is so good. I am speechless at the lack of recognition it has gotten, and truly believe that it's one of the best sci-fi films of the last decade. That's a hill that I'm willing to die on.

Honorable Mentions:
Hereditary
Directed by Ari Aster
Not particularly into horror, but this film is objectively good. Toni Collette deserves all the awards, and was wrongfully snubbed for Best Actress.
Avengers: Infinity War
Directed by Anthony & Joe Russo
I love a good Marvel movie, okay? Sue me. It's a lovable mess.
A Quiet Place
Directed by John Krasinski
Is it horror? Is it sci-fi? Is it a thriller? Is it a sci-fi horror thriller? I don't know. All I do know is that it's good, and a telling example of how sometimes genres fail when it comes to categorizing films.
Sorry To Bother You
Directed by Aneesh Chaganty
Bizzare, fun, and wildly its own. Where was the Best Screenplay or Best Adapted Screenplay nod? I'm still mad about it.
The Kindergarten Teacher
Directed by Sara Colangelo
A film that I don't think was talked about enough in 2018. Also... Maggie Gyllenhaal. Yeah. Just... Maggie Gyllenhaal.
1. The Favourite
Directed by Yorgos Lanthimos
A film that defies description. Daringly original, deliciously detestable, and charmingly hilarious. Starring Olivia Colman, Emma Stone, Rachel Weisz, and directed by Yorgos Lanthimos. Do I really need to elaborate beyond that?
