Consists of one of the best scores of the year and the best animation of 2018. Great year in animated films.

Coen's add another heater to their impeccable filmography.

6. Mandy
Directed by Panos Cosmatos

5. Shirkers
Directed by Sandi Tan 

Best doc I've seen in a while. Addicting.

4. Hereditary 
Directed by Ari Aster 

This one blew me away. Hope you're not sympathetic and weak stomached!

3. Upgrade 
Directed by Leigh Whannell

Almost too cool for it's own good. The camerawork on this deserves so much more attention.

2. Eighth Grade 
Directed by Bo Burnham

Bo got robbed for a best director nom. Good laughs. Most watchable movie of the year.

The Favourite 
Directed by Yorgos Lanthimos 

Yorgos continues being the most interesting director of my time. 
*this would've been top 3 easily if I would have seen it sooner smh

An amazing debut by Jim. Most fun I had in the theater this year.

Roma 
Directed by Alfonso Cuaron

Had to include this because film twitter would probably make me serve 25 to life if I didn't. It's also an amazing movie and you need to see it. On Netflix.

Sorry To Bother You 
Directed by Boots Riley 

Investors/Producers read this script then proceeded to say, "Yes, we will give you millions of dollars for this idea." Glad they did. Deserved a best pic nod.

Searching 
Directed by Aneesh Chaganty 

Low-key one of the most important movies made in 2018. Doesn't make a spectacle of how "Asian" it is, just casted perfectly and lets the filmmaking speak for itself. Thrilling. 
*that's no ill will towards "CRA", chill man

1. Annihilation
Directed by Alex Garland 

This one stayed with me all year. One I will remember for my lifetime. Unforgettably gorgeous and thought provoking. Look for it on Amazon Prime. Fin.
